Dr. Jeffrey Alan Niezgoda is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Corporate Medical Director of AZH, LLC, serving in this capacity as one of the founders of AZH in 2013. From 1998 until 2013 he served as the Medical Director of The Centers for Comprehensive Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Aurora Health Care, and St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the President and Chief Medical Officer of Hyperbaric & Wound Care Associates, a physician specialty group serving Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Under Dr. Niezgoda’s leadership the Aurora program expanded from a single hospital care platform, St. Luke’s Medical Center, to providing hyperbaric and wound care services at 8 other acute care hospitals and 3 LTAC facilities. The program realized significant growth in patient visit volumes, from less than 1500 annual visits in 1999, to combined total volume of over 100,000 annual patient visits in 2012, and was then considered to be the largest Hyperbaric and Wound Care Clinic System in the country.
Dr. Niezgoda is fellowship trained in hyperbaric medicine and wound care and was Board Certified in Hyperbaric Medicine in 2004 and in Emergency Medicine in 2007. Licensed in Wisconsin and California, Dr. Niezgoda is a Fellow of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine and a Master of the American Professional Wound Care Association. He is the immediate Past-President of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine and is currently the Vice-President of the American Professional Wound Care Association. Dr. Niezgoda was a prior member of the Executive Committee of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, having served as the Chairman of the Wound Care Committee, as well as a past member of the Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy Subcommittee. He is a life member of The Association of Military Surgeons. He is a past diplomat of the American Board of Hyperbaric Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Niezgoda is currently an honorary member of the Board of Directors of The American Board of Wound Healing and a former member of the Council for Medical Education and Testing. Working within these organizations as the co-chairman of the Examination Committee, he played a pivotal role in the creation of the Physician’s Certification Examination in Wound Care, the Physician’s Hyperbaric Certification Examination, and the Certified Hyperbaric and Wound care Specialist Examination.
Dr. Niezgoda is also the Founder and President of WebCME a novel educational company and industry leader in online wound and hyperbaric education. This educational platform has trained over 3000 physicians and nurses in the areas of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and advanced wound care. He is co-host and Executive Producer of the first e-Edutainment Broadcast, Wound Rounds Live, which a wound care based educational program broadcast globally via the internet. Dr. Niezgoda is a recognized wound care expert and has served as faculty at both national as well as international conferences. He has participated on multiple Expert Consensus Panels and has appeared before Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Food and Drug Administration to provide expert opinion in several areas of wound care. Dr. Niezgoda serves as a wound care consultant to multiple industry companies as well as to several financial and investment firms.
